The Pregnancy....Thus Far

Late February - Started seeing acupuncturist. I'm a true believer in acupucture. When my acupuncturist found out I was having triplets....he told the girls at the front desk to start charging me triple : ) ha ha For those of you TTC (Trying to Conceive) please consider doing acupuncture.

March 9, 2008 - Started injections for in vitro cycle.

March 21, 2008 - Road trip! Traveled to Rockford for egg retrieval. Retrieved 8 eggs (this is good for me) - woo hoo! This is when I knew it was a good cycle - 8 is my lucky number!

March 23, 2008 - Brooke, the embryologist calls to tell us our embies (embryos) are doing great....we have 6 embies....5 of which are 8 cell grade A......VERY GOOD! Happy Easter to us : )

March 23-24, 2008 - Brian and I decide to have Dr. G transfer TWO embryos......

March 24, 2008 - Another road trip! Back up to Rockford to have the embryos transferred. We decided to transfer THREE back instead of two. We figured we transferred two a year before and neither one "took" so why not ; ) hee hee. Used a bed pan for the first time in my life (and I'm sure it won't be the last). Brian and I laughed so hard.......I thought I was going to knock the embryos right out of me from laughing so hard. Note to those trying to conceive.....have a good laugh right after embryo transfer, you're going to need it at this point. Just don't move around too much!!! This is where it all began...

March 24-April 7, 2008 - Took it easy. Paying attention to every single thing going on with my body. Pretty much OBSESSING. I NEVER took an at home pregnancy test though. This is considered the dreadful Two Week Wait. I went shopping with a girlfriend the weekend before we found out. I was EXHAUSTED by the end of the day. This is when I kinda knew deep down I was pregnant - I just felt "different".....but yet I still felt like I was going to start my period at any minute too - pretty normal from what I hear.

April 7, 2008 - THE LONGEST DAY OF MY LIFE. We couldn't find out until late in the day if I was pregnant or not. Brian was traveling for work and flew back into town from NC just to be with me when we found out the results. I know, what a great husband.

April 7, 2008 - 3:01pm. I will never forget that! Joellen calls from Dr. G's office. Silly girl wanted to start small talk with us - I thought I was going to scream! I put her on speaker phone. She tells us "congratulations"..........blah blah blah......your HCG levels are 695.....blah blah blah. Those were the only two things I heard. Congratulations and my HCG levels being 695 (pretty darn high). Needless to say, I was SO emotional......I started bawling. Couldn't stop. We hung up with her and we just held each other crying for about 10 minutes. All I could say was Oh My God, Oh My God, Oh My God. Hence the name of this blog : ) I'm getting tears in my eyes just thinking about that feeling.

April 7, 2008 - 3:45pm - 7:00pm - Called family and close friends to tell them the great news. Most people wouldn't dare telling people this early, but when you go through IVF, it's kinda hard. Everything is scheduled and planned - and everyone knows what you're going through. I didn't care......it was only family and close friends : )

April 22, 2008 - (approx. 6 weeks) First ultrasound to see how many babies are in my belly. I thought for sure it was twins. I knew the moment the picture came up on the screen. And it wasn't twins. I can't even describe how I felt. Brian was ALL smiles : )

April 7-June 7, 2008 - (6 weeks - 13 weeks) Sicker than a dog! I was working.....or should I say "working". I don't think I put in a full 40 hour work week this whole time. My poor coworkers had to put up with me. Not only was the morning, noon and night sickness horrible, I was exhausted 24/7. I lost 8 pounds my first trimester.

May 25, 2008 - (11 weeks) Stopped progesterone injections - woo hoo!

Late May (12 weeks) - started to feel small "flutters" and FINALLY starting to feel better. Morning sickness starts to subside. Begin to enjoy my pregnancy : )

June 23, 2008 - (15 weeks 2 days) Last day of work before going on bed rest. Started feeling small kicks and punches.

June 24, 2008 - (15 weeks 3 days) Cerclage performed.

June 25, 2008 - (15 weeks 4 days) The official first day of strict bed rest. ARGH!

July 24, 2008 (19 weeks 5 days) - 1 month on bed rest.

Late July (20 weeks) - Brian feels babies kicking for the first time. I'll never forget the look on his face.

August 23, 2008 (24 weeks) - First milestone 24 weeks!

August 24, 2008 (24 weeks 1 day) - 2 months on bed rest

Present - (25 weeks 3 days) - Still on strict bedrest. Doing well and very happy about that!

Congrats on your pregnancy! It looks like you're doing so well given how hard triplet pregnancies are! I can't wait to read your blog too.

What a great story! Hey, do you Facebook? They have an online Scrabble game. We could play each other online. I suck, so you'd be sure to kick my booty.

I'm so glad you did this! I started tearing up reading the February post, and pretty much cried all the way through - kind of like I did at work!

What a wonderful journey this has been! It hasn't always been easy, but each milestone has been full of good news and you've been a real trouper. See? I've already forgotten about the first trimester!
